Undoubtedly the most popular 4WD trip from Broome is the mighty Gibb River Road.
Here is a great 8 day round trip from Broome option - which you can obviously add to or subtract from to suit your needs. Extend your stay in Kununurra and explore the incredible scenery at your leisure.
DAY 1 - Broome to Bell Gorge - Via Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek
Pick up your 4WD camper in Broome and head to Derby. Continue via Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge (explore this in the morning) to Bell Gorge, where you can stay overnight at the Silent Grove Campsite.
DAY 2 - Bell Gorge to Mount Barnett Explore Bell Gorge, enjoy a hike or simply relax in the magnificent surroundings.
Then head back onto the Gibb River Road towards Mount Barnett, exploring Galvans George and Barnett River George along the way.
DAY 3 - Mount Barnett to Home Valley Station (check if this is open to stay) Take a morning walk out to Manning George, before hitting the road heading the Home Valley Station. Still a working cattle station, Home Valley offers visitors fantastic tours and activites and a restaurant. From horse back riding through the magnificent country to trying to snare the elusive Barramundi.
DAY 4- Home Valley to El Questro Continue east along the Gibb towards El Questro Station. At the entrance to the station is Emma Gorge, where you can stay at Emma Gorge Resort. The stunning walk to the falls takes approx 1.5 hrs
DAY 4 - El Questro Station Relax at Emma Gorge. Discover El Questro Gorge, Zebedee Springs and Chamberlain Gorge.
DAY 5 - El Questro Station - Lake Argyle Wake up early to finish off the rest of the attractions of El Questro before travelling to Kununurra to stock up on supplies. Take a drive out to Lake Argyle and stay at the beautiful Lake Argyle resort.
DAY 6 - Lake Argyle - Bungle Bungles Continue to the Purnululu National Park Safari Camp, where you can begin your exploration of the Bungle Bungle Ranges. Allow at least a full day in the park to ensure you see both sides of the range.
DAY 7 - Bungle Bungles - Fitzroy Crossing Depart Purnululu and travel to Halls Creek via the Great Northern Highway. Visit Halls Creek, the site of the first Gold Rush in WA and see the China Wall. Travel to Fitzroy Crossing and stay at the Fitzroy River Lodge.
DAY 8 - Fitzroy Crossing - Broome Explore Geikie Gorge then continue back to Broome.
